The Second Asia-Pacific Symposium on Wireless Networks and Communications was held in our university

Recently, the 2nd Asia-Pacific Symposium on Wireless Networks and Communications was held on the Nanhu campus. This symposium was jointly organized by the Office of Sciences and Technology, Office of Global Engagement and the College of Communication Engineering of Jilin University. A number of well-known international and domestic experts (IEEE Fellow) in the field of communications attended the conference and delivered special academic reports, including Dr. Ying-Chang Liang, a famous alumnus of our university from the Institute for Infocomm, A*STAR, Professor Dong In Kim from Sungkyunkwan University, South Korea, and Professor Fumiyuki Adachi from Tohoku University, Japan, Dr. Wei Zhang, a famous alumnus of our university from the University of New South Wales in Australia, Dr. Rui Zhang from the National University of Singapore, Professor Niu Zhisheng from Tsinghua University, Professor Song Lingyang from Peking University, Professor Zhao Xiaohui and Professor Qian Zhihong from Jilin University.

 

September 26 marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Engineering Discipline of Jilin University and the founding of former Jilin University of Technology. The second Asia-Pacific Symposium on Wireless Networks and Communications is also one of the important academic activities carried out by the College of Communication Engineering to celebrate this significant occasion. Professor Chen Gang, Executive Vice President of Jilin University attended the meeting and delivered the opening speech. Experts and scholars in related fields of our university, Heads of the Office of Sciences and Technology, Office of Global Engagement, and members of the leadership team of the College of Communication Engineering attended the opening ceremony. More than 100 representatives of teachers and students from the College of Communication Engineering attended the symposium. The symposium was chaired by Zhao Xiaohui, Dean of the College of Communication Engineering.

 

The invited experts made wonderful academic reports on key technical topics such as smart energy management in the future 5G wireless communication system, wireless charging communication network, spectrum sharing, cell structured network, interference suppression in heterogeneous networks, robustness of power allocation in cognitive networks, wireless communication in the energy era, resource allocation in full-duplex wireless communication and device identification in the Internet of Things. Dr. Ying-Chang Liang, a well-known alumnus of our university, Vice President of the Alumni Association of Jilin University in Singapore, and national distinguished professor, gave a report entitled Spectrum Sharing in Unlicensed Bands for 5G and Future Cellular Networks”. The main contents involve 5G and technical issues of spectrum sharing in unlicensed frequency bands in future cellular networks. Dr. Zhang Wei, a well-known alumnus of our school and vice president of the Jilin University Alumni Association in Australia, gave a report titled How to be a good neighbour? - Interference Coordination in Heterogeneous Networks. He introduced how to be a good neighbour from three aspects, focusing on solving the technical problems of interference coordination in future heterogeneous network. Finally, Professor Xiaohui Zhao elaborated on key technical issues such as the robustness of power allocation in cognitive networks.

 

The College of Communication Engineering has always been committed to the development and research in the field of wireless networks and communications, and has trained a big pool of communications talents that are in high demand in China. The convening of this Asia-Pacific Symposium on Wireless Networks and Communications has propelled the exchanges between teachers and students of the College of Communication Engineering and colleagues, allowing teachers and students to further understand the cutting-edge information of the development of science and technology in the field of wireless communication, broadening their research horizons, and contributing to the college’s research on related fields.
