A report back session was successfully held in the Nanhu Campus conference room on April 19, following the short exchange program that saw CCE faculty and students visiting the UK as visiting scholars. The report back session aims to summarize what students experienced abroad with the rest of the college and to foster students' desire to broaden their horizon. The session was attended by Mr. Li Hongwei, Secretary of the Party Committee of CCE, Mr. Chai Hua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Mr. Wang Bo, director of the Student Office, as well as various members of the college undergraduate body.

During the seminar, students shared their experiences through a carefully prepared documentary, in which they recorded their expectations before their visit, their excitement at reaching their destination, their joy of experiencing UK culture, their excitement at visiting world-class laboratories, and the friendships and bonds they’ve formed. This documentary showcased their memories, and will encourage more students to follow in their footsteps.

Professor Shi Yiran described their visits to Queen Mary University in London, John Morse University and several universities in Manchester. He also briefed the college on cooperation agreements that was formed between CCE and these universities, application standards, graduate programs, as well as the current state for relevant colleges, to serve as references for students who intend to go abroad for further study. He also gave an introduction of classes, laboratories, and student research projects in these universities. Next, Shen Jiaqi and her students shared their experiences of visiting Oxford University, the British Museum, and the Science and Industry Museum, as well as UK’s rich history, cuisine, and lifestyle.

After introductory debriefing, student representatives from the visit shared their thoughts and experiences, including what they have learned, what they’ve experienced, how they’ve been inspired by British scholars, and the differences they’ve found between the UK and China.

At the end of the session, Li Hongwei, Secretary of the Party Committee of CCE expressed that the college’s continued support for this short-term exchange project. He encouraged students to go out, improve their language skills, broaden their perspective, and answered questions from students in attendance on behalf of the college.

The short-term exchange successfully concluded with this report-back session. It allowed more students to understand the program, and inspired more students become engaged, and remain inquisitive for the rest of the world. This program is but a small step for CCE to follow the lead of Jilin University to establish “Double-First Class” Programs. CCE is dedicated to find more opportunities, programs, and platforms to foster global citizenship while enhancing academic capacity at the same time. So stay tuned for more exciting updates in the future.
