The International Seminar on the Integration of Next-generation Communication-Sensing-Computing was successfully held

On November 30, 2022, from 8:30 to 17:00, the International Seminar on the Integration of Next-generation Communication-Sensing-Computing was successfully held online. The seminar was jointly organized by the College of Communications Engineering of Jilin University, the School of Optoelectronic Engineering of Changchun University of Science and Technology, the Key Laboratory of Intelligent Sensing and Network Technology of Jilin Province, and the National "111" Center for Optoelectronic Information Perception and Intelligent Instruments of the Ministry of Education. The conference covers all aspects of communication-sensing-computing integration, providing a new platform for in-depth exchanges and cooperation between experts and scholars in related scientific research fields in the industry. More than 100 experts and scholars at home and abroad, as well as teachers and students from various universities, attended the conference.

Professor Xuemin (Sherman) Shen, Foreign Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada, and tenured professor of the University of Waterloo, Canada presided over the opening ceremony, introduced the background of communication-sensing-computing integration to the participants, and explained the great significance and great challenges of the integration from the needs of their own research in the fields of Internet of Vehicles and autonomous driving. Finally, he encouraged the participants to promote meaningful exchanges in this seminar. Professor Xiaohui Zhao from the College of Communications Engineering of Jilin University, Professor Lingyang Song from Peking University, Professor Fengye Hu from the College of Communications Engineering of Jilin University and Professor Jinshi Cui from Changchun University of Science and Technology presided over the seminar as the chairpersons of the sessions.

The seminar also invited 8 well-known experts at home and abroad to give keynote speeches, namely Professor Weihua Zhuang of the University of Waterloo, Canada, Professor Nirwan Ansari of the New Jersey Institute of Technology, USA, Professor Shiwen Mao of Auburn University, USA, Professor Abbas Jamalipour of the University of Sydney, Australia, Professor Nei Kato of Tohoku University, Japan, Professor Ying-Chang Liang of University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Professor Min Sheng of Xidian University, Professor Wei Zhang of University of New South Wales, Australia.

Professor Weihua Zhuang, Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada, Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, and tenured professor of the University of Waterloo, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Media Access Control for Industrial Internet of Things"

Nirwan Ansari, Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) and Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Harnessing Big Data and Artificial Intelligence for Next Generation Networks"

Professor Shiwen Mao, Professor of Auburn University, Earle C. Williams Eminent Scholar, and Director of the Wireless Engineering Research and Education Center, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Indoor Radio Map Construction and Location Estimation with a Deep Gaussian Process Approach"

Professor Abbas Jamalipour, Professor of Ubiquitous Mobile Networking, IEICE Fellow, IEA Fellow, former President of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society, and Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Communication, Sensing and Computing in Future Wireless Virtual Reality"

Professor Nei Kato, Tenured Professor of Tohoku University, Distinguished Lecturer of IEEE Communications Society and Vehicular Technology Society, Fellow of the Engineering Academy of Japan, IEEE Fellow and IEICE Fellow, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Task Scheduling for Multi-Access Edge Computing in IRS-Aided Vehicular Networks"

Professor Ying-Chang Liang, Foreign Member of Academia Europaea, Professor of University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Editor-in-Chief of TCCN, Associate Editor of CHINA COMMUN, and Editorial Board Member of "Science in China-Information Science", delivered a keynote speech entitled "Intelligent Reflecting Communications for 6G"

Professor Min Sheng, Professor of Xidian University, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Integrated Services Network, Vice Chairman of IEEE Xi'an Branch, and Associate Editor of IEEE Vehicular Technology Magazine, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Boosting Edge Intelligent Resource Management for 6G Mage Satellite Constellation"

Professor Wei Zhang, Professor of the School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, Vice President of IEEE Communications Society, Area Editor of IEEE Transactions of Wireless Communications, and Editor-in-Chief of JCIN, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Intelligent Reflecting Surface Configurations for Smart Radio Using Deep Reinforcement Learning"


After the meeting, Professor Zhi Liu of Changchun University of Science and Technology and Professor Fengye Hu of the School of Communications Engineering of Jilin University made concluding speeches, expressing their sincere gratitude to the participants of this seminar and their ardent expectations for more in-depth exchanges in the future.

During the one-day discussion, the participants conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions with the participating teachers and students on many topics related to the theme of the seminar, such as industrial Internet of Things, big data and artificial intelligence, smart radio, IRS-aided vehicular networks, intelligent reflecting communications, 6G Mage satellite, etc. The discussion brought new perspectives to the field of communication, enhanced the scientific research ability of teachers, and broadened the international vision of teachers and students.
